Maine Coon Rescue Disclaimer

Our goals at Maine Coon Rescue (MCR) are to rescue abused, abandoned, and homeless Maine Coons and Maine Coon Mix cats and to place them in carefully screened, permanent homes. MCR works with and assists animal shelters, individuals, and other rescue organizations to find homes for any Maine Coon or Maine Coon Mix cats in need.

MCR does attempt to determine the pedigree of each of the cats in rescue, but unless pedigree paperwork is surrendered with a cat, MCR cannot ensure all rescues are purebred. Although MCR may know a cat is a purebred the cat must be listed as a mix. MCR will only list a cat as Pure Bred when that determination can be made through direct contact with the cat's breeder or MCR has the paperwork from an owner/breeder turning in a cat.

MCR suggests any cat adopted, through MCR or any other rescue, be taken to a veterinarian for a health visit within 72 hours of adoption. As diligent as MCR Fosters are, we cannot guarantee perfect health. If a major problem is found within 2 weeks of adoption, MCR will reclaim the cat and refund the adopter's fee.

Once a cat is adopted from MCR, the health and general care of the adopted cat become the responsibility of the Adopter. MCR cannot guarantee the cat's temperament once the cat has left the foster home.

Please Note: All adoption fees and donations collected are used strictly for the care and welfare of the cats MCR rescues. The MCR organization is made up of volunteers only; there are no paid employees.

If you request MCR list your cat for adoption on Petfinder (Courtesy Post), MCR asks you to be very careful. MCR suggests you ask pointed, direct questions to any potential adopter regarding the care and welfare of your cat. Please do NOT give your cat away. It has been the experience of most rescues that people do not care for pets which are free. Do not be in a hurry to give up your cat; please exhaust every effort to keep your cat. MCR is here to help you with advice and suggestions to take care of whatever problem you are having with your cat. If you determine you absolutely cannot keep your cat, please be VERY CAREFUL with whom you choose to let your cat go home.

Since we do not guarantee any of the cats, prospective owners, or people placing the ads, please ask enough questions to assure that you are getting a good match in a cat. We highly recommend getting a written statement of transfer of ownership and records about the cat's health and recent vaccinations and testing.
