National humane organizations estimate that as many as 70% of cats entering shelters do not make it out alive. In some shelters, animals are euthanized within only a few days—even though many simply need time to find the right home. This includes kittens. During “kitten season,” shelters in economically disadvantaged areas may be forced to euthanize kittens within days due to overcrowding.

Rescue groups have become a vital lifeline for shelters. Moving a cat from a shelter environment into a home setting makes them far more adoptable. Shelters are stressful for most animals, and their true personalities often do not emerge until they are in a home. Foster stays can last from a few weeks to several months, especially for older cats or those needing extra care.

Foster or Adopt — Save a Life

We are asking Maine Coon lovers to open their hearts and their homes to foster or adopt.
Until we have more foster homes, Maine Coons remain stuck in shelters waiting for help. This limits our ability to reach out to additional shelters that may have Maine Coons and Maine Coon mixes in need.

Case Managers

We need volunteers to serve as Case Managers to help place cats into their forever homes.
This role can be done entirely from the comfort of your home and plays a critical part in each successful adoption.

Fundraising Volunteers

If you enjoy fundraising, we need your help! Donations support medical care such as veterinary treatment, medications, and special needs care.
No amount is too small, and our Fundraising Team has a lot of fun while making a real difference.
