Maine Coon Rescue cannot guarantee the parentage or breed of cats on this site. THE FOLLOWING CAT IS BEING CARED FOR IN A LOVING MCR FOSTER HOME. BIO: Up for adoption is sweet and sassy Honey. The first two photos are earlier and when she had been sick so her eyes were a bit yucky. The last 4 are from 12/29/21. She and her siblings love to play in their water bowls so she is a little scruffy looking in the last 4. All of them are still learning as they go along. This little one has been through so much in the couple of months she has been in foster care. She almost died at one point. She had an upper respiratory infection which is now cleared up. When she first got here she was rapidly losing weight and I didn't understand why. This wasn't normal for a kitty cold. I started syringe feeding her and she ate like crazy that way. I finally realized she didn't know how to eat from a bowl! I had no idea! I started working with her and teaching her. She ate like crazy then! She was just so hungry and I felt so bad! I think she was taken from her mother too soon and hadn't learned a lot of things she needed to know. She knows now and has even taught one of her siblings how to 'cat.' Honey got somewhat food aggressive with her siblings because she was afraid she wouldn't get enough food. She would grab a chunk and take it away off to the side to eat it. She never got physical with the other kittens. Just upset if I disturbed her while she was eating. I would wait until she was finished to give her meds. She was much calmer then. I've been holding off on wet food some to try and curb this behavior. As she gets older this should correct itself. Especially once she learns she doesn't have to fight for food and that there is plenty. Honey is really healthy now and super sweet. She is playful all of the time and wants loving so much. She enjoys being around her siblings so I think she will do just fine with other cats in the home. Actually I would prefer she have a companion animal in the home so she isn't lonely. She's used to being in a big room full of siblings so she will feel lonely for a while in a new environment. Maybe not though as cats are so resilient, but especially kittens. I just feel it is better for her to have a dog or cat friend. Pestering the resident dog or cat will keep her too busy to be lonely haha! If you want to adopt two kittens there is a $25 discount and I have two more just like her except with a little shorter hair. They are both males. It's not required that she go with a sibling, but if you have space in your home and heart for two, she would do best with one of her brothers with her since she has been with them since birth. Who doesn't love twins and triplets!!
