Maine Coon Rescue
THIS IS A COURTESY POST CAT WHO IS BEING CARED FOR BY OUR FRIENDS AT OTHER RESCUE GROUPS/SHELTERS, OR IS A PRIVATE PARTY NEEDING TO REHOME THEIR CAT. FOR INFORMATION ON THIS CAT, PLEASE DIRECTLY CONTACT THE PERSON NAMED BELOW.
Albert is a 9 yr old red tabby Maine coon mix boy. Albert is extremely friendly, calm and a bit pushy. He loves visitors, and bossing around the resident dog. He likes to be the center of attention, will snuggle on his own terms and absolutely loves belly rubs. He is fine with kids and calm dogs but can be aggressive to cats. He is okay with his brother Egon. He is on the prescription diet Royal Canin Urinary SO. Albert (orange kitty) is about 9.5 years old, male and neutered. Egon (brown kitty) is about 7.5 years old, male and neutered. They are Maine Coon mixes, and I adopted them about 2.5 years ago. Both are up to date on vaccinations, heartworm & flea prevention and are in good health. They have been together their whole lives, but rarely interact, so I think they could be fine apart if necessary. They have always been indoor cats, but LOVE their catio. It would be great to see them go to a new home together!
Albert is a big boy with a big personality. He adores attention and is very pushy to get it- if he thinks someone else is getting some love he comes running! He will also just wander off when he has had enough, and is not particularly needy. He loves company, and is very social with visitors. He’s interacted with a variety of kids, and has been chill and relaxed. I doubt he would love a baby pulling his tail, but any kids that are gentle would be fine by him. He is the boss of my 65 lb dog, and I think would be fine with any other calm dog. He has shown very intense bouts of aggression towards cats other than Egon, so he would be good in a home with no other cats (or Egon, of course). I like to describe him as the real life Garfield. His main jam is sleeping completely splayed out on his back with his belly out for all to enjoy. He’s had a couple urinary problems (UTI and a bladder stone), so he is on a special diet- however he has had zero issues since switching over.
Egon is a bit of a shy-guy at first and takes some time to trust new people. This being said, once he knows you are safe he is a MAJOR sweetie pie and will coo and follow you around to get pets and head butts. Since living with me he has become far more outgoing and usually will warm up to new folks in less than an hour. He is super curious and will try to figure out what you are up to. He will also lay right on top of anything different in the environment- papers, keys, books-you name it. If you can’t find something it is probably under him. He gets along well with my dog, and has shown only curiosity with other cats. He spends the days lying on the window sill, and the nights creeping around the house. He is a very mellow and affectionate guy. I think he would probably be a bit shy of kids, but would get used to (and thrive) in any situation given enough time and space to feel safe. He has some skin allergies that cleared up with his current flea/tick treatment and a shorter haircut. It’s super easy to shave him with clippers, as he revels in the extra attention. Also, he is as soft as a chinchilla with shorter fur! It grows pretty slow, so this task is only necessary every 4-6 months or so. I will give any adopter the excellent clippers I have for him.
As both these boys are a bit older, they are typically lay-around guys that don’t need a lot. Attached are some photos of them in all their glory.
