ESSIE is a lovely, gentle lady who was suddenly tossed out on the streets a year after her owner died. She hid under a bush for several days before being rescued. ESSIE is shy but very friendly and does not mind being picked up and cuddled. She loves laps and petting! She does OK with other cats but is a bit overwhelmed in the foster space so a home with no more than another cat or two is recommended to help her come out of her shell. Being an only cat who gets lots of attention would really help her flourish. She has not been exposed to dogs while in foster care nor does the foster know how she does with children. Because she is so loving and gentle, she should be ok with respective children six years or older. ESSIE is not really playful but is more content lounging and soaking up any attention she can get.

ESSIE has a healthy appetite and currently eats Purina ProPlan Complete Essentials kibble and enjoys Fancy Feast on occasion. She has excellent litter box habits, uses an uncovered litter box and is not particular about litter choice. Her thick coat of long, silky hair requires some brushing which she does not mind.

ESSIE is not demanding and asks only for a safe, loving home where a lap will show up a few times a day for some quality time….more is even better! Might you be the one who needs an excuse to sit down every now and then? If so, ESSIE would love to live with you!

ESSIE is available for adoption within a 250 mile radius of zip code 25177 if the adopter is willing to drive halfway; otherwise, there is an $85 transport fee.

Adoption Fee: $200 includes combo test (neg/neg/neg), spay, rabies and FVRCP vaccinations, dewormed and flea preventative. ESSIE will have a microchip registered to Maine Coon Rescue with the option for the adopter to add their name and contact information.
