The following cat is being cared for in a loving MCR foster home. *Ollie is FIV Positive* Ollie's Story - he was living with an elderly lady who became overwhelmed. She had taken Ollie in when his previous owner abandoned him. He was covered in fleas and as a result of that had flea-induced dermatitis. Upon coming into rescue, Ollie had an upper respiratory infection and tested positive for FIV. Ollie is just the sweetest calmest boy ever. He did require time to settle in and trust. With the time and patience he needed, he now craves attention. He jumps up on the bed when I enter his room and rolls around for me to pet him. He wants to be petted all the time. He is a quiet boy too. Unless he wants something, then he will meow a little bit to get your attention. He plays with toys a little bit. I think mostly because he does not know what they are as he probably has not had them. He LOVES his Temptations treats. I also had to give him a pill for the upper respiratory infection he had when he came into foster care and he was sooo easy to pill! I was also able to hide it in his wet food at times and he ate it like a champ. This boy is a dream. Whoever adopts him will be very lucky. He will do well in just about any type of home. Ollie does get along well with other cats. We are unsure how he is with dogs, but given time and proper introduction he should do fine. Moving forward Ollie will need to be given flea treatments to be sure he does not contract fleas as he is highly allergic. The flea treatments should come from your veterinarian (i.e high-quality flea treatments) and not what you purchase at pet stores. He was treated with Bravecto and responded very well. It was a 90-day treatment for a VERY reasonable cost. Ollie is also FIV positive and he will require a home that will keep him safe from the possibility of infections from outside the home. His home must have no cats that go outside nor should he go to a home that even occasionally brings in other cats such as fostering or petsitting unless you know the cat is healthy, vaccinated, and can be kept separate for some time. Ollie is available for adoption within 250 miles of Columbus, OH. Exceptions might be made if it is the right fit for Ollie. If the adopter does not meet the foster halfway, an $85.00 transport fee will be required.
