THE FOLLOWING CAT IS BEING CARED FOR IN A LOVING MCR FOSTER HOME.

BIO:  ROSIE

Like so many of our rescues, Rosie and siblings Bud, Basel, and Ivy, began life as stray kittens born to a stray mother, this time under a porch in West Virginia. They were taken in and cared for by a kind person, who contacted Maine Coon Rescue to help locate a long-term foster home.

Miss Rosie is the ultimate lap kitty, sweet and gentle, a definite cuddler and attention hog! When she wants to be petted, she will absolutely let you know, by pushing her head through your hand, rubbing against your phone or computer--whatever is competing for your attention at the moment--or putting her paws up on your leg. She will curl up on a lap, chest, or sleeping body, so if you're looking for a "velcro kitty", Rosie is your girl. Rosie is curious, playful, energetic, loves wrestling with her siblings. She is even undaunted playing with the resident collie although twenty times smaller and lighter (see video).

In addition to being comfortable with our dog, Rosie is also good with our older cats (except the grumpy old cat that lives upstairs because he hisses at everybody), young children, and all the adults she has encountered so far in her young life. Rosie is my late-night old movie buddy; behind her is young David Niven in "Dawn Patrol".

Rosie has been eating Maine Coon Kitten dry food, Friskies canned (seafood varieties), Wholehearted canned chicken, and Hills Science Diet canned. She is also very interested in people food like yogurt, cottage cheese, and scrambled eggs, and will help herself to a little if allowed.  Oddly, she will also lick the cookie coating off of a Fig Newton if she manages to find one sitting unattended!

Based on current size/weight, it looks like Rosie will be a medium-sized adult, with medium-length fur.

One thing about Rosie, she can be a bit of a klutz compared to her siblings. At times when she tries to jump from one place to another, she misses her mark and lands on her side rather than her paws. Our veterinarian does not think it’s anything to be concerned about and that she might grow out of it, but it is something to be aware of.

While it is always difficult to say goodbye to foster kittens, this group will be particularly hard. Rosie, Bud, Ivy, and Basel are the most interactive, people-friendly bunch we have ever fostered, very true to their Maine Coon heritage.

Rosie needs to be adopted with one of her siblings, as they are closely bonded and will be happier and adjust better to a new home. I recommend one of the boys, Basel or Bud.
