Maine Coon Rescue cannot guarantee the parentage of any cats unless they are registered with papers. This cat is being cared for in a loving foster home. Derry is one big ol handsome hunk and he knows it! He came to us because his person passed away several months ago. He had 5 other cat brofurrs and sisfurrs. Now he is lonely. He had foster siblings for a while but they have all went to their homes. He is 9 now but don't let his age fool you. When I got him home I thought he was about 3 or 4. He does not act like he is an older kitty at all. He wants attention and love so much! He yells for us to come in the cat room to see him and give him affection. Or maybe he just wants a can of wet food? He sure does go crazy for that! He will rub on your legs like mad wanting you to pet him. He is one of the most affectionate cats I've fostered. He doesn't like being picked up as much as just petted. I do think in a home of his own he would be a lap cat if given some time. Derry is friendly with other cats and gets along well. I haven't tried him with dogs so I don't know about that. However he is so laid back I think he would do just fine with a friendly dog that would let him come around at his own pace. Who knows? He may buddy up with a dog right away and never look back! Derry has a crazy quirk where he will sneeze when he is excited. It's strange I know! He had been checked out with a vet to make sure he doesn't have any allergies or an upper respiratory infection. No he is just a big faker who likes to show his excitement in weird ways! He is fully vetted and had all his vaccines. Maybe he is faking sick to get out of school? Hhmmm He is so silky and soft with a very thick coat. Surprisingly he only needs brushed maybe once a week or so to keep him from getting mats. He keeps himself perfectly groomed most of the way. He may get a small mat under his chin once in a while since it's hard for him to groom that area. He's such a gorgeous cat and follows you around like a dog. He's the best of both worlds!
