MCR Disclaimer
Our Goals at Maine Coon Rescue (MCR) are directed toward rescuing abused, abandoned and homeless Maine Coon (Pedigree) and Maine Coon Mix cats, placing them in carefully screened, permanent homes, or foster homes (if necessary), where they will be well cared for, and in assisting animal shelters, working closely with other Rescue Organizations to find homes for any Maine Coon or Maine Coon Mix cats in their care.
In the absence of clear documentation and/or first-hand knowledge of the origin of all cats listed on the MCR Website, Maine Coon Rescue mailing list, Maine Coon Rescue Petfinder Site - determination of origin of these kits must be made based on their appearance and personality. Appearance and personality are determined by validation of our Judges. The kit's appearance will either clearly match the breed standard, or will be based upon the presence of physical characteristics and personality traits that are shared by purebred Maine Coon Cats.
MCR does not propose to know the parentage of cats listed and, by way of this statement, we are informing potential adopters that MCR cannot and does not assure that the parentage of Maine Coon appearing cats include any pure Maine Coon.
No information on the MCR Website, MCR email list, or MCR Petfinder Pages are guaranteed. It is crucial that any pet found through an adoption service or private party be thoroughly examined by a veterinarian immediately upon adoption and before exposing the animal to other pets in your household. All pets currently in your household should be up to date on vaccinations and in good health before introducing any new animal into your home. A quarantine period is also highly recommended.
Any cats found, adopted through, or listed by MCR are the sole responsibility of the adoption organizations and/or the adopting party. MCR accepts no responsibility for any liability or for any injury or damages to any person or property caused by any listed animal, as well as any cause of action, claims, suits or demands whatsoever that may arise as a result of such injury or damage
Neither MCR nor its Volunteers, nor its Internet Provider, nor its Web Host are responsible for the accuracy of the information in these listings. We provide the listings "as–is" to help cats find new homes. We rely solely on the information provided to us.
Since we do not guarantee any of the cats, prospective owners, or folks placing the ads, please ask enough questions to assure that you are getting a good match in a cat. We highly recommend getting a written statement of transfer of ownership, and records about the cat’s health and recent vaccinations and testing.
Note that either MCR or any other person or organization placing the rescue cat may ask for a donation or charge an adoption fee to cover direct and indirect expenses incurred in their rescue program. These fees serve to reimburse the person or group who have most recently cared for the cat (for spay/neuter, shots, FeLV/FIV testing, fecal tests, basic health exam, etc).
When adopting a cat from a private home, in most cases you should not be asked for money. If an individual is asking an adoption fee, ask enough questions to be sure that they are not in the business of selling stray cats in dubious health and passing them off as purebreds. While there are many wonderful people doing legitimate rescue work, there are also a few unscrupulous people as well. Please be careful.
